Because of the wide acceptance of object-oriented database systems, query processing and indexing have become an important factor in the success of object-oriented database systems, especially when we deal with composite objects. To tackle the issue, we propose a c-signature scheme, which is a combined approach with the path dictionary. In the c-signatures, the signatures are abstracted from objects in a path in concatenation and stored in class-oriented way, so as to reduce search space. we compare the c-signature scheme with other indexing schemes such as path index, path dictionary, class unit signatures and s-signatures, Finally, we conclude that the c-signature scheme shows significant improvements in the retrieval operation.
