Abstract: The purpose of this project was to investigate the effectiveness of `self-healing' concrete in seismic situations. The concept of self-healing concrete involves the release and activation of an adhesive agent from within a given concrete member in order to fill and seal local cracks. It is possible that such a mechanism could enhance stiffness in the member, increase damping, or do both, thus reducing the structure's chances of failure in the event of an earthquake.!1
