摘要

The dual-domain hybrid alignment structure of tunable birefringence (D-HAN) LCDs has been studied to develop a new LCD mode having fast response speed and low driving voltage with a wide viewing zone. The D-HAN LCDs are fabricated by dividing one pixel into two subparts utilizing an optical or a mechanical rubbing method. The detailed studies of the D-HAN LCDs are presented theoretically and experimentally, and it is shown that the D-HAN LCDs will become one of future candidates for high-performance LCDs.
