The area of Millimeter Wave Integrated Circuits has received extensive attention over the past two decades. With the vast spectrum spanning from 30 to 300 GHz, millimeter waves offer tremendous potential applications in radar, wireless communication, local area computer networks, remote sensing and signal processing. For accurate characterization and synthesis of these circuits, elaborate analytical and computational techniques are required. A systematic approach to this problem is to accurately characterize the basic building blocks of the total circuit; namely, millimeter wave transmission lines and passive and active components. In addition, the mutual interaction effects in an integrated-circuit environment need characterization.
