摘要

Self-healing ring architecture is economical and reliable for computer networks.However,for centralized circuitswitching networks ring topology limits each node's bandwidth.A new self-healing topology is proposed in this paper to expand each node's bandwidth as well as to maintain survivability. An architecture with a star like multiple rings form(SMR) can use bandwidth efficiently due to its star like topology as well as can self-heal easily due to ring topology using multiplex section protection (MSP) mechanism. Cost's analysis shows that it is cost-effective and most suitable for gradual evolution from ring or star topology networks with increase investment.
