Criteria in Selecting SCP Platform

Due to the growth of traffic and communication technologies,the distances between people are shorter than before. In telecommunication,services are getting more sophisticated to meet the people's demands,and how to offer services more efficiently but reduce cost effectively is the main consideration of service provider.Intelligent Network(IN) is an efficient method to provide services quickly and maintain low cost at the same time.It is constructed by the following components :Service Control Point(SCP),Service Switch Point(SSP),Service Management System(SMS),Service Creation Environment(SCE), Intelligent Peripheral(IP) and SS7 network.SCP in IN is responsible for IN services calling control that processes the query from SSP and collects different statistic data such as network and subscriber information.The service logic programs are also stored in and executed by SCP to effect IN services.Due to the critical on-line transaction processing (OLTP) characteristic of SCP,the important of SCP in the IN network has been well established and recognized.This report explores the selecting criteria of the SCP platform and major among them are existing computer benchmark,hardware reliability,and operating system.
