摘要

Since several years silicon bipolar technology has turned out to be very powerful for designing high-speed ICs for fibre optic communications. It is the aim of this contribution to demonstrate, on the basis of selected examples, that reliable and save operation up to 10 Gbit/s and beyond can be achieved with silicon bipolar production technology, even for critical circuit functions and/or for circuit complexity up to the LSI grade. The example ICs are chosen from the receiving end of a transmission system and the pertinent test equipment. This contribution works out specific measures taken to achieve save operation up to 10 Gbit/s and beyond.
