Microcellular systems have been proposed as an ideal solution to the ever increasing demand for mobile and personal communications. System capacity in these networks which are composed of small-size cells with several hundred meter diameter communication range is greatly increased due to improved frequency reuse. Also microcells require only low power since the transmission distance is greatly reduced. Cost and ease/flexibility of deployment are two important considerations in the installation of microcell networks.
