Standard Harmonization in Japan: Industrial, Scientific and Medical Radio Frequency Apparatus

Recently, countries the world over have been faced to have standards which harmonize with International recommended standards, such as CISPR and IEC recommendations in order to eliminate some possible trade barrier. In Japan also,Japan Telecommunication Technical Council organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, in the field of electromagnetic compatibility standards, has been requested to discuss CISPR recommended standards (International standards) in an attempt to adopt their recommendations as national standards. This paper presents Japanese basic policies to be applied and the steps to be taken In adopting International standards as the Japanese standards, taking Industrial, Scientific and Medical Radio Frequency Equipment for instance.
