NGC requirements for commissioning-management and practice

In the mid 1990s, and in recognition of the fact that thenintegrity of the power system is dependent upon equipment enteringnservice which has been commissioned to a high technical standard, the UKnNational Grid Company (NGC) embarked upon the major task of redefiningnits whole approach to commissioning. To this end, the company has bothnreformulated the management process for commissioning, and established anmethod of training and authorisation for all staff who have formalncommissioning responsibilities. These initiatives will eventually benshared with NGC's suppliers. This paper briefly describes some of thenmajor aspects of the initiatives undertaken
