The Myrtle Beach Water Treatment Plant is a 20 MGD facility that utilizes the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIW) as a raw water source. The primary design consideration of the facility was the removal of high levels of orgenic color imparted to the water by the decay of vegetation. The purpose of this paper is to provide insight on the experiences involved with and the information gained from the start-up of the facility.
