In conclusion a holistic approach that incorporates a life-cycle approach and includes public health measures is advocated for effective micronutrient programming. Any action however small will make some difference and should be promoted. Community participation and empowerment are crucial elements for success. Instituting cost-effective monitoring systems will ensure that practitioners and communitites are abreast with the nutrition situation. Evaluation of both process and impact are important and cost-effective indicators should be identified. UN agencies can play a crucial role in advocating for nutrition activities and promote rights-based programming. Political commitment will ensure acceptable resource allocation and finally there is a lot of good will in partners in the NGO and private sectors that should be taken advantage of.
