Numerical analysis is being used for the first time to quantify the effect of vertically dominant wind components on the velocity instrument on a Mars lander. Parametric studies have been performed varying the fluid's direction and Reynolds number. Results of the velocity field and forces on the velocity instrument are compared and discussed.
