The considerable application of grinding balls is due to the fact that during the period of their exploitationrnthey are treated by significant combined loading: impact load, thermal load, abrasion, corrosion. Thernextremely non-favorable combination of operation conditions is the main reason for their rapid wear andrnnecessary subsequent replacement. As in many cases the corrosion losses are commensurable with wearrnlosses it is very important to know well the corrosion behavior of these alloys.rnThe report presents the results from a study of alloyed with 0 – 3.3%Mo and 0 – 1.8%Nb high chromiumrnwhite cast irons in a medium containing Cl ions. The tests are carried out according to ASTM G 48. Thernresults show that additional alloying with Mo and Nb improves corrosion properties. With increasing of therntest time the rate of corrosion losses and the possibilities for pitting appearance goes down. The data could bernsuccessfully use to take the right decision for white cast irons practical applications.
