Dr. Stewart has developed a ceramic microfiltration system for the removal of heavyrnmetals. This new-patented treatment technology has been able to consistently meet the existingrn40 CFR 420 and 40 CFR 433 requirements while at the same time reducing the cost forrnwastewater treatment. This paper will discuss the treatment technology, computer controlrnsystem and provide several case studies for wastewater treatment. The case studies are for arnlarge metal finishing operation and a large wire line. The average reduction in effluent valuesrnover the comparison treatment technologies was a factor of 10 to 20. This system was also ablernto treat wastewaters similar to K062 listed wastes and generate a non-hazardous waste sludge.rnIn each case study, the payback for the initial capital expenditure was less than 2 years with anrninternal rate of return in excess of 30%. The average chemical cost savings were 30%. Thernaverage labor savings over conventional treatment were 40%. We will also provide arncomparison with other wastewater treatment methods including clarification and ion exchange.
