Times have changed and the O-Ring needs to fulfil completely new requirements besides the static sealing function. The automatic assembly and the application require a reduction of friction, e. g. the transmission of dynamic functions, as in the case of short strokes and infrequent switch operation, or in the reduction of assembly forces in plug connections. Here, it is not just lubrication and opposing surface quality that have a crucial effect on adhesion tendency and friction behaviour, but also the elastomer quality. Besides the costs, the constantly guaranteed quality of the surface treatment/modification are to the fore.
