Momentum bias systems are often used for attitude control of Earth oriented satellites, 3-axis stabilization is accomplished with 2-axis Earth sensor measurements. In order to implement functional redundancy with little additional recurring cost, magnetometer measurements can be used for 2-axis attitude measurements. In this case, the control problem becomes time-varying. In this paper, a time-varying control design is described that copes with magnetometer measurements, even in the case of rather general reference attitude trajectories.
