A new RTK VRS (virtual reference station) networkrninfrastructure, which had been developed and introducedrnin Japan this year by DX Antenna, Hitachi and TV Asahirnwith strong support of Calgary University, puts a groundrnfor the development of different projects including ITS.rnNew ITS concept has been developed based on ourrninfrastructure, augmented with pseudolites andrnpseudorange coded magnetic markers. Two ITS systemrnhave been proposed for Japan Public Works ResearchrnInstitute that share the same approach and basicrncomponents, ITS for pedestrians and highway ITS. Thernsystems were accepted as a basis for test systemrndevelopment and evaluation.
