This paper presents the capacity of square and circular sheet pilernfoundations on sand under combined vertical (V), horizontal (H) andrnmoment (M) loading. The results of vertical loading from centrifugerntest clearly demonstrate that both square and circular sheet pilernfoundations can substantially increase the vertical capacity ofrnconventional shallow foundation on sand. The vertical capacities asrnwell as the pull out capacity and load-settlement characteristics of bothrnsquare and circular foundations were compared and discussed. Usingrnthe zero vertical displacement concept of swipe test, the next series ofrntests were then carried out in order to investigate the horizontal andrnmoment capacities of the foundation. The test data of the swipe test arernuseful to identify the maximum capacities of the foundation and usefulrnto generate the shape of yield surface in V-H and V-M load spaces andrnthe failure envelope.
