RD on Retrieving and Conditioning Processes of Low- and Intermediate-level Radioactive Solid Waste from Storage Pits

摘要

An overview is given on retrieving, sorting and compaction for conditioning ofrnlow- and intermediate-level radioactive solid wastes(LILWs). Several pieces of keyrnequipment for waste retrieving and conditioning are developed. Tests of high-forcerncompaction with different combinations of different kinds of simulated waste arernperformed. Factors affecting the volume reduction of the waste is discussed. Based onrnthe successful implementation of the work during 1996-2000, the planned work ofrndesigning and constructing a treatment facility for retrieving and processing thernLILWs stored in CIAE is briefly outlined.
