Room temperatrure synthesized MCM-41 supported tungsten catalysts were prepared and characterized by surface area,low temperature oxygen chemisorption, XRD,and TPR methids. The catalytic activities were evaluated for thiophene HDS,cylohexene HYD andrnfuran HDO. The activities of these catalysts were compared with that of γ-Al_2O_3 and SiO_2 supported catalysts. The results were interpreeted in the light of characterization studies. Itrnwas found that MCM-41 supported ES_2 catalysts displayed superior activities ans oxygen chcmisorption is not specicic to any on the rnfunctionalitied but measures general state of dispersin of WS_3
