摘要

The effects of three types of defects, fractured fibers, separation of fiber joints, and macrocrack, on the mechanical properties of sintered metallic fiber felts (SMFFs) are investigated numerically and analytically. The fractured fibers are realized in numerical models by breaking the cell edges (fibers between two joints in SMFFs) in otherwise perfect microstructural models. It is found that decreasing of the modulus and yield strength due to introducing of fractured fibers into SMFFs is much lower than that of 2D foams and Kagome grids.
