Ling'ao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) is arn1,000MWe class of PWR nuclear power station withrntwo units. The original reactor core fuel managementrnscheme was designed to use AFA2G fuel assembly,rn1/3 out-in reload per year.rnWith development of fuel assembly, a third-rngeneration advanced fuel assembly AFA3G would bernproduced to substitute AFA2G.rnFor the reactor core mixed with AFA2G andrnAFA3G, the coolant flow-rate distribution would berndifferent from that with all AFA2G because of therndifferent fluid resistance, so that the thermal-rnhydraulic feature would be changed. Therefore it isrnnecessary to justify the safety and compatibility ofrnmixed core.rnIn order to enhance the economy and transit to arnnew advanced fuel management strategy, the freshrnAFA3G fuel enrichment needs to be increased atrncycle 3 of LNPS. So it is also necessary to justify thernsafety of mixed core with increasing enrichment.rnNuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) wasrncharged with the project of the mixed core andrnincreasing fuel enrichment studies for LNPS duringrnMarch 2002 to May 2003. Framatome ANP in Francernas a sub-contractor, with Daya Bay Nuclear PowerrnOperations and Management Co., LTD (DNMC) inrnChina, joined in the project.rnThe report presents the main studies andrnconclusions of the project.
