Chinese Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR) isrnunder construction in China. It is essential torninvestigate core disruptive accidents (CDAs) for thernevaluation of CEFR's safety characteristic andrnacquiring licenses. Accident of total instantaneousrnblockage, one of design basis accidents for CEFR,rnwas modeled and analyzed. The degradation scenariornwas calculated by a fluid-dynamics analysis code forrnliquid-metal fast reactors (LMFRs). The subassemblyrnscale was simulated and calculated for detailrninvestigation of accident process. Total instantaneousrnblockage was assumed to occur in one assemblyrnunder normal operating conditions and consequencesrnto neighboring assemblies were studied. The resultrnshows that the key events such as sodium boiling,rnclad melting, fuel particles relocation, hexcan failurernand melt propagation into inter-assembly gap werernadequately simulated. It can help to give a betterrnunderstanding also prediction and mitigationrncapability of hypothetical accident scenario inrnsubassembly blockages.
