Considerations Regarding the Social Policy in the European Union

The European Union has proposed itself the promotion of economic and social progress, which is connected with the strengthening of economic and social cohesion. The achievement of a high level of employment (over 70%) and of social protection, better living conditions and a higher quality of life, arc the main objectives of the European social policy. It is essential that the tic/ions and measures adopted by the European Union offer equal chances for all European citizens to perceive the advantages of the European integration. It is considered that the most important part of the social policy regards the use of labour force (the policies regarding the growth of employment and the control of unemployment), because of the high level of unemployment in the European Union. Coherent structural reforms are necessary to determine the growth of European economic potential to generate employment, to reduce regional disparities and social inequities.
