The paper presents the effect of several additives, such as pyridine derivatives and perfluorinated surfactants on the chromium deposit from hexavalent chromium electrolytes. There were studied the obtained deposits: corrosion resistance, hardness, microstructure and gadherence. Taking into account the ecological disadvantages of electrolytes containing hexavalent chromium, it was also studied the effect of specific additives on pollution reduction. The study has focused also on the correlation between the type of additives, the electrolytes composition and the deposits characteristics.
