Four new asimetrically tertiary monophosphines were prepared in fair yields by the same method, by reaction of p-substituted-aryldichlorophosphines with organolithium reagents and were characterized by IR and ~1H-NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis was done. The tertiary phosphines obtained will find potential synthetic utility as convenient ligands for transition metals and as phosphonium salts, useful for Wittig-Horner reactions. Starting from tolyldichlorophosphinc two new 1,3,2 dioxaphospholanes have been obtained and characterized. They are expected to have biological activity. Although organophosphorus compounds of trivalent phosphorus exhibit both electrophilic and nucleophilic reactions this study concerned only about the action of a nucleophile on P(III) leading to a displacement reaction.
