摘要

Many cold formed hollow sections with a width to thickness ratio 2γ>35 can be found in the product standard EN10219-2 (2006). However, due to the design restrictions in EN 1993-1-8 (2005), they have normally to be excluded from use. For joints with these slender sections, experimental investigations on K-joints with gap have therefore been carried out at Karlsruhe University to extend the limiting range. The results of these investigations are statistically evaluated according to EN1990 (2002) with reference to the ob-served failure modes. In this paper, the existing design models are suitably adapted for the slender sections not covered by existing rules. The influence of reducing the gap size limitation on slender chords is also investigated.
