Over these years, refractories for the waste melting furnace can be summarized in Al_2O_3-Cr_2O_3 castable, MgO-Cr_2O-3 brick and Cr_2O_3-free refractories. Al_2O_3-Cr_2O_3 castable shows excellent corrosion resistance to the slag with low basicity. It is better to use MgO-Cr_2O_3 brick in the melting furnaces where flying ash is processed. Cr_2O_3-free refractories with excellent penetration-resistance have been developed, but their corrosion-resistance is still worse than that of refractories containing Cr_2O_3. So it is urgent and necessary for us to research and develop Cr_2O_3-free refractories with life as long as refractories containing Cr_2O_3.
