The Impact of Deregulation in Nigerian Air Transport Industry: An Overview

The effect of globalization is fast showing its attendant effects on the Nigerianrnaviation Industry. The impacts, of which, has led to increases in passengers trafficrnmovement in Nigeria's Airport. More importantly, paradigms as it affect ownershipsrnand administration of operation in the Nigerian Aviation Industry. This studyrnexamines among others: the industry, the impact of deregulation in Nigerian airrntransport industry, its effects on operation and control changes as it affects air subsectorrnoperational efficiency, its impacts to attract foreign direct investment andrnattract foreign airline participation in Nigeria Aviation Industry.rnThe methodology used for this study is documentary searches, which entails search ofrnexisting published and unpublished documents and databases of stakeholders inrnNigerian aviation Industry and external sources with affinity with the sector.rnThe results of this study reveal that an unprecedented growth has been recorded inrnthe Nigeria Aviation Industry. It includes among others: healthy competition neededrnfor growth and development, increased participation in the industry by some foreignrnairline, increased foreign direct investment in airline and airport infrastructurerndevelopment.
