This paper presents a validation project on CFD code for large diameter jet(D=0.254m)impingement flow. CFD-ACE commercial software was applied in this study.The simulation results are compared with reference experimental data and evaluated in views of Stirling engine design and development. rnBefore apply the CFD code to this study,two simulations were performed for code validation. Simulation of laminar jet impingement flow and heat transfer was performed by comparing with result of Victor[16]and turbulent flow model simulation was performed to compare with Fitzgerald[10] experimental results.CFD-ACE code shows very good match with the reference data. rnThe simulations of large diameter jet impingement were performed to compare with the experimental results from Terry Simon(University of Minnesota). Two different Reynolds numbers for unidirectional flow(7600 and 17700)and two different space ratio (0.25 and 0.5)were simulated. rnAlso oscillatory flow of same model was studied in the view of Stirling engine model.Two different oscillatory frequencies were tested and simulated for two different space ratios.The comparisons between the simulation and experimental results show good match at some crank angle of oscillatory flow.
