Flow of a Maxwellian fluid is studied theoretically above a moving plate,i.e.,in Sakiadis flow.The flow was assumed to be laminar and two-dimensional,and boundary layer concepts were used to simplify the equations governing the flow.The reduced governing equation was then solved using finite difference method. Results are presented for velocity profiles and wall skin friction coefficient in terms of the local Deborah number.A marked formation of boundary layer is predicted, even at low Reynolds numbers,provided the Deborah number is sufficiently large.The wall skin friction coefficient is predicted to decrease slightly the higher the fluid’s elasticity.
