This paper presents an investigation of the suppression of vortex shedding from a square cylinder in proximity to a plane wall through the laminar regime for Re_D=300. Prehminarv results are used to describe changes in the wake structure, in the shedding frequency, and in the hft and drag on the cylinder are described as the separation between the wall and the cylinder is varied
