Based on the Bertotti's loss separation model, the analysis and calculation of iron loss is proposed under sinusoidal, triangular and square waveform regimes, meanwhile, the corres-ponding loss prediction models are given. An improved law of Epstein frame for measuring iron loss is presented. The loss curves are measured for two types of silicon iron laminations under voltage supply with arbitrary frequency and three waveforms. The nonlinear regression is then given to the experimental results, and parameters in the prediction model are worked out, and there is hardly any discrepancy between the computed and the measured results. It is proved that parameters in the prediction formula vary only with the paticular waveforms of the supply for the certain ferromagnetic material. Having the knowledge of loss data under sinusoidal regime at 50 Hz which are always offered by the silicon iron manufacturers, it is easy to gain the loss under other waveform regimes by multiplying certain constants to each loss component. The analysis and calculation of iron loss under nonsinusoidal regime is necessary and meaningful.
