Leading wireless operators and manufacturers are concerned about the mass market take-up of mobile triple play which may impose burden on the existing infrastructure. If high-speed triple play services are adopted by consumers in significant numbers, current third generations (3G) high speed networks will become congested. Thus there is an immediate need to enhance the capacity of wireless networks.rnOne of the advanced features that can be incorporated in the future cellular phones is the capability of lightning hazard prediction and warning the mobile users about the impending danger. This is very important for users passing through regions where lighting can be a major hazard.rnIn this paper, we introduce a new lightning prediction system which can be incorporated in future cellular networks. We also introduce a new adaptive coding method that can be used for future networks to increase transmission reliability while optimizing the delay.
