Hazard Training of Chemical Processes by Simulation: An Approach for Improving Safety at Work

Several incidents in industry have resulted from the fact, that the operators didn't know exactly how to deal with a disturbance of the normal process. In other words, the personnel was not trained to handle a situation, which happens rather seldom, but is very critical in its consequences. As it is almost impossible to experiment with dangerous situations on real equipment, operators and plant managers often lack practical experience with serious hazardous situations and have to rely on theoretical knowledge.
