The potential for devastating earthquakes along the Himalaya Mountains has long been recognized. After the 2015 MW7.8 Gorkha Nepal earthquake, the seismic hazard for the source regions requires reassessment.Inthis work we evaluate seismic hazard for Nepal and surrounding regions using probabilistic seismic hazardtechnique. The study region is separated into twenty three seismic source zones on the basis of tectonics andspatial distribution of the seismic activity back to 1000 AD.A Gutenberg-Richter magnitude and frequencydistribution is used for various earthquake catalogs to evaluate the b-values as well as the maximum credibleearthquake magnitude (Mmax) for each seismic zone.We compute the hazard assessment using CRISIS 2007after selection of suitable ground motion prediction model for each source region.
