Benthic foraminifera are sensitive to surroundings and can respond quickly to the changing of circumstances. Therefore they are regarded as superior bioindicators in oil pollution.Penglai 19-3 oil spill of the Bohai Sea in 2011 has been regarded as the biggest oil spilling event within several decades in China. It exerted severe influences on marine life, ecological environment and society economy. For detecting oil pollution in this sea area benthic foraminifera were sampled using quantitative layering sampler after six months of the oil spill along the pollution gradients in 9 stations.Environmental factors including PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon),oil, sulfides, organic carbon were measured.
