Understanding the onset of those non-equilibrium phenomena in electrochemical reactions has far reaching impacts. The observation of Turing-type patterns on electrode surfaces, for example, points to a prospective exploitation of pattern-forming mechanism to manufacture structured electrodes similar of those being developed for the(bio)sensors.Strasser and co-workers have classified electrochemical oscillations into fourcategories. According to their methods, the double-layer potential is a negative feedback variable for N-NDR(Negative Differential Resistance)and HN-NDR(Hidden Negative Differential Resistance)oscillators, but it isnot necessary for strictly potentiostatic oscillator. Therefore, the study of nonlinear phenomena can provide newinsight into the mechanism of electrochemical reaction.
