A general strategy for the preparation of polyoxometalate coordination polymer modified electrodes via anionic liquid route was proposed.A polyoxometalate(POMs)coordination polymer 1,[Cu2(4,4’-bipy)4(PMo12O40)]n·mH2O(4,4’-bipy=4,4’-bipyridine)was successfully reconstructed byelectrolyzing in its ionic liquid solution on conducting glasses electrode coated with Indium Tin Oxide(ITO).The polyoxometalate coordination polymer is insoluble in aqueous solution and usual organic solutions, butsoluble in an ionic liquids(ILs)1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate(BMIMBF4).The reconstructedpolyoxometalate coordination polymer on the ITO electrode was characterized by FTIR spectra and XRD.TheXRD pattern of the deposited POMs on ITO electrode shows the deposited POMs had the same structure as thepolyoxometalate coordination polymer 1,which imply that the structure of the deposited POMs on ITO electrodekeeps the same as the original the polyoxometalate coordination polymer 1.The electrochemical properties theas-prepared POM-modified ITO electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, which not only displayed agood electrocatalytic activity toward the reduction of iodide, but also exhibited high stability in aqueous solution. The proposed strategy for the construction of POM coordination polymer modified electrode shows remarkableadvantages, which should be important for practical applications.
