On June 18, Launceston abalone fisherman Ricky Lovett take delivery of an eye-catching new 6.3 metre vessel from the now well-renowned Smithton yard, Badenach Enterprises, Tasmania.Built in the traditional Badenach style, the vessel, 'Maxsamlyn', has also shown that she has mettle, the twin Mercury 115 Optimax outboards powering her to an impressive 44 knots on trials in a moderate chop off Smithton. She cruised easily at a very economical 33 knots. Her manoeuvrability was predictably impressive, as she went through her paces spinning virtually "on a dime". Combined with her impressive quietness of operation and economy, this performance impressed us greatly and it should satisfythe most discerning of operators.
