An Investigation on Design Optimization of Small Vessel to Enhance the Coastal Shipping in India

摘要

The objective of this study is to enhance the business of shipping industries in India, for which considering the available draft of 5 m and the service speed of 10 kt to 12 kt to transport 5000 WT cargo per vessel through the small ports of India for 24 × 7 operation. The paper comprises of design and optimisation of small vessel along with the propeller and rudder design, fuel consumption etc. The cost analysis has also been carried out and the comparison has been made with the other modes of transport. The paper concludes with the optimistic result and discussion on the performance of these small vessels.
