WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING (WIL) PROGRAMME FOR CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS

摘要

Work Integrated Learning Placement Programme is initiated and administered by the Industrial Centre (IC) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to offer real work placement opportunities for the students of Civil Engineering & Building disciplines during the summer term in their higher education studies.It aims to facilitate the construction students gaining exposure & real work experience in their professions.During the placement, student trainees will perform real work in a design office or construction site under the guidance of their immediate supervisors of the partnering companies.At the completion of the placement, young engineers are required to report to IC's industrial training supervisor and share their work experience and reflections among the peers.This paper describes the features the programme and reports the critical issues encountered in implementation of the structured work integrated placement programme.
