The method involves determining a value of temperature based on resistance of a preheater plug (2). Value of the resistance is calculated to determine the temperature during non-stationary evolution of the temperature in the preheater plug by using a physical model. The temperature is determined based on a measured resistance and the calculated resistance value. The temperature is determined in multiple intervals of time, and the calculated resistance value varies according to preceding time difference.
