The area where the farm of The Greenleaf OliveCompany is established is rather well-knownamongst South Africans as a good fishing and riverside destination, situated as it is near Swellendam and the Breede River, on the gravel road to Cape Infanta. It appears as if the area may well be on its way to become rather famous as an olive cultivation area too. The Mediterranean type climate has traditionally prompted holiday cottage development along this languid and broad river. It is reportedly, with its long summers and warm winters endowed with a climate and soils (gravelly and well drained) that are very good for olive production too, which is good news for the stimulation of the local economy and new employment opportunities.
