Approaches for Replanting Senile Cashew Area in Tamilnadu forest Plantation Corporation Ltd.

Tamil Nadu Forest Plantation Corporation Limited (TAFCORN) an undertaking of the Government of Tamil Nadu was formed in 1974, with the objectives of raising, managing and harvesting Forest Plantations of Eucalyptus, Cashew, Casuarina and other Commercial tree species on sustained yield basis on commercial scale to meet the demand of local industries (especially pulp and paper) and public. The Government of Tamil Nadu wholly owns this Corporation which manages about 75,000 ha forest area obtained on lease from the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. The TAFCORN has one of the largest holdings of 18804 ha. in Cashew Plantations in the Government owned corporations spreading over 6 administrative districts namely Cuddalore, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thiruvannmalai, Villupuram and Vridhachalam in Tamil Nadu.
