As the first baby boomers reach retirement age this year, some arewondering who will replace them.In a survey of companies by RHRInternational in Wood Dale, 111.,50 percent of company executivessurveyed said they expected to losemore than half their senior managers in the next three years. Fifteen percent said they were likelyto lose 75 percent or more. Thoseresults were echoed in anothersurvey by Ernst & Young LLP,with headquarters in New York,where six out of 10 respondentssaid the expected retirements overthe next half decade would causea major brain drain in some business functions. "Nobody knows what percentage of boomers will choose to retire and precisely when, butcertainly lots of them will retirein the next few years, particularlybecause they grew up in a generation when there were pensionplans in place," says Dr. Eric Herzog, president of Quest Consulting & Training, an organizationalconsulting and development firmin Pacific Palisades, Calif.
