Chilean finance minister Felipe Larrainhas rebuffed a call from the govern-ment’s congressional allies to cut a taxon motor fuels as part of a wider pro-posed tax reform package.“It is urgent that we review the spe-cific fuel tax and propose its eliminationor reduction,” senator Victor Perez, gen-eral secretary of the UDI, one of the mainparties of the governing alliance, said.“We have to consider that the high fuelprice affects the growth of the economyand therefore affects employment.”
