Allometric equations to estimate the abovegroimd biomass of 4 bamboo species Oxytenanthera parvifolia, Cephalostachyum virgatum, Bambusa tulda, Indosasa sinica, which are widely distributed in fallow forests in mountainous area of northern Laos, weredeveloped. Although DBH, or DBH and height were employed as the parameters of allometric equations, the equations with sole valuable of DBH were practically applicable. In order to create more generalized equations, the combination of equations of 4 bamboo species was tested. The differences in allomertic equations of 4 bamboo species were highly significant, and the allometric equations were not to be combined. In applying allometric equations in mountainous area of northern Laos, it is appropriate toapply species-specific equations.
