Intensive nursery systems function as an extension of hatcheries and are an effective way to acclimate postlarvae to farm conditions and assess their quality and health prior to pond stocking. A key advantage of nursery tanks is the ability to start growout with larger shrimp. This can shorten growout and increase annual yields. Round nursery tanks are frequently used in Brazil, as they provide more uniform water circulation and accumulate less waste.
